Dev Update: Everything Since the Campaign
A lot has landed since the new campaign. Here’s the roundup, from versions 1.9.5 through 2.0.3.
New places to play
- Two new cantinas: the Shade Line on Solara and the Undertow on Maaren.
- Animated cantinas, inside and out, with redesigned cantina screens.
- Private tables: party codes let you sit down with a friend directly.
- Multiplayer no longer needs a shuttle pass or an ad. Just pick a cantina and play.
- A new match result screen, and after a multiplayer match you can answer SP-3R’s call for a bonus Starlume Token.
Daily play
- The Pazaak Daily Duel: one seeded match a day against a Hall of Fame boss. Every player in the world gets the same match, one attempt, and a global leaderboard settles it.
- Daily streaks, shared across the Daily Duel and Daily Memoraak. Keep the flame alive to earn credits that grow with your streak, and bank streak freezes at milestones to cover a missed day.
- Share cards: your daily results render as a picture worth posting.
Make it yours
- The Avatar Creator: build a character instead of picking one off a shelf. There are over a billion visibly different combinations, and the classic avatars are still in there if you’d rather just pick one.
- The campaign has faces. Everyone who talks to you is built with the same creator.
- Color your XP ring from eight shades.
- The Starlume card design, bought with Starlume Tokens.
- Four new player fields: Drownwood, Jumpfrost, and two animated Legendaries, Lanternburl and Verdant Leadlight. The field store is now grouped into collections, and Legendary fields animate in multiplayer too.
- Player Titles to show off on the board and in the cantina.
Smoother play
- Rebuilt CPU opponents. One risk-based engine drives every difficulty, so the lower tiers play sensibly with weaker cards instead of just playing badly.
- Wagering reworked around a difficulty slider, with win multipliers up to 2x.
- Offline matches save themselves. Quit a wager, campaign or duel match any time, or just get interrupted, and pick it up exactly where it stood.
- Play while you wait: sitting in the multiplayer queue lets you start a wager match or a Memoraak run. When an opponent shows up, one tap saves your game and takes your seat.
- The whole game plays in landscape, and a multiplayer match survives a rotation mid-turn.
- Far fewer ads: SP-3R offers rewarded ads in roughly one match in four, down from most of them.
- A fresh look: a redrawn main menu, one consistent button style, and rebuilt dialogs.
- Your stats sync across devices, and purchases restore right away on a new install.
- What’s New: patch notes for every version, right from the main menu.
Plus plenty of fixes along the way, from crashes when leaving a cantina to sign-in getting stuck on a poor connection.
What’s next?
That’s you. Feature Poll 2 is open, so pick what I build next.
