Latest Update: Multiplayer

I am excited to announce the latest update to Pazaak Cantina includes a Multiplayer mode.



Multiplayer


The first phase of the new multiplayer mode is here! I have invested significant resources into building all the systems for being able to play against others. In this initial release you will be able to:


  • Travel to a Cantina: Choose which cantina you'd like to travel to from a list of Cantinas that have distinct vibes. In the future, I will add more Cantinas and have them offer unique mechanics.

  • Sit down, relax, and find an opponent: Once in a Cantina of your choosing you can sit and match up against an opponent to play head to head. For now it is random matchmaking, but in the future I will work on friends lists and invitation-based games.



Updated Visuals


I've spent some time revamping the menus, buttons, backgrounds and color palette in the game. Hopefully its a bit more polished and cohesive. I've heard from some of you that it needs polish - and I'm on it. I'll continue with this going forward to keep improving.



Player Feedback and Future Updates


Many of the features in this update were inspired by player suggestions. I encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas, as they play a crucial role in shaping the future of the game.


Looking forward, I have a ton of ideas for new features and improvements for the game that I've been thinking about over the years. I'll drop a few ideas and you can comment on any of them or others you might have.


  • Title System: Expand your game-play options with unique Player Titles that modify game results. Titles can be unlocked by completing various goals throughout the game.

  • Star Ship System: Purchase, upgrade, and customize your own star ship. With this update, I'd modify the campaign to include a ship travel system that takes you between the planets.

  • Campaign Story: A custom dialogue system, NPCs to interact with, and a unique story that is explored as you progress.


...And so, so, so much more. I have a ton of ideas that I've been cooking up over the years that I'd love to make happen. Let's stay engaged and see if we can make it happen together. With your support, it just might be possible.


TLDR

Multiplayer v1 is here. Its a lightweight version - but I wanted to get it out ASAP since you have been asking for it for years. I have other ideas for more features - and I want to make them happen. If I can figure out some support options - I could dedicate more time to developing the features I have envisioned and always wanted.

Updates

I see there is an issue with multiplayer games getting soft locked and not started right after the queue pops and players are matched. The issue is caused by one of the players being AFK in queue for some time before getting matched. I will be fixing this issue first to get games starting properly. You can manually abandon a soft locked multiplayer game by quitting the app, reopening, select multiplayer, and when it prompts you - select the abandon option. This should remove you from the soft locked game so you can re-queue. Sorry about this issue - I was just too excited to roll out the multiplayer update and didn't factor in AFK players.

Sounds like you've got a lot of great ideas for this game, but just need time and patience to implement them fully.


While I'm not a professional by any means, I know from experience that coding and debugging always takes way longer than you think it will. 😅
